Misinformation Checker for Chrome
Overview
Trust Guard is a Chrome extension that checks a page for language commonly used in misinformation. Click Scan Page and it shows a trust score and the phrases it found.
How it works
- Text extraction: walks the DOM with a TreeWalker and skips hidden elements, scripts and styles.
- Keyword detection: looks for phrases such as "miracle cure" and "doctors hate this".
- Scoring: starts at 100% and takes off 10% for each suspicious keyword.
