Overview

VEIL-AI logs vehicles entering and leaving a site by reading their number plates. It runs at the edge and is tuned for Indian plates.

Features

• Plate detection: a YOLOv8n model fine-tuned on an Indian licence plate dataset from Kaggle.
• OCR: handles two-line plates, using EasyOCR with Tesseract as a fallback.
• Entry and exit tracking: confirms a vehicle across several frames before logging it.
• Storage: SQLite locally, with optional Firebase sync.

Results

The fine-tuned detector scored 0.995 precision, 0.990 recall and 0.995 mAP50 on a 202-image test split. These figures cover plate detection, not end-to-end OCR.
